Metal Sawing
Diamond-wire saws are used to cut through metal, no matter the type or thickness. Heavy equipment or machinery may need to be cut apart before a building can be remodeled or demolished and wire sawing is sometimes the best way to remove the structure.
Wire sawing also avoids the fire hazards of cutting torches. A multi-strand cable with diamond segments is threaded through a series of pulleys and is continuously pulled through the metal.
Heat exchangers are one example where diamond wire sawing is the best choice. Heat exchangers have a thick outer metal shell with thousands of small tubes inside. Conventional cutting methods are time consuming and leave an undesireable finished product, with jagged or uneven edges. Wire sawing can complete a smooth cut through both the shell and tubes in one pass. If contaminated materials are in the heat exchanger the wire can be used without water.
