Joint Sealing
The process of joint sealing is used to protect concrete and asphalt from water penetrating through the surface. When joints or cracks are not sealed, water penetrates through the joints and cracks of the pavement and compromises the sub-grade. If the sub-grade is undermined, the quality of the pavement risks serious damage.
There are several types of sealers including polymeric hot-applied sealant, polyurethane elastomeric sealant, ultra-low modulus silicone, semi-rigid epoxy and neoprene compression sealers to name a few. The uses vary depending on the intent and specifications of your job and used in sidewalks, balconies, pavements, terraces, warehouses, factories, civil structures and plazas. Most sealers are flexible allowing extension / recovery of the material with the shrinking or contracting of the paving at the joint. Some sealers are semi-rigid designed to support the joint edges and reduce spalling of the edges caused by wheel traffic.
